In light of the news planned parenthood selling baby parts from this video; I decided to comment from a different perspective. Please view the video.
Cited from: Dailymail.com website an article called, Planned Parenthood’s top doctor caught on undercover video discussing the sale of aborted fetus organs to potential buyers-including how much each body part is worth. By Chris Spargo, July 20th, 2015.
When I had my abortion in Gainesville, Florida in 1978, the abortion clinic workers told me; The fetus inside you is not a baby, but a blob of tissue; After the procedure, you will be out the door and on with your life again; The procedure is safe, there will be no harm to your body. Let’s explore three views of when life begins in light of abortion in our culture today from; a Science view, a Medical view and God’s view. I’m going to keep this as simple as possible. They are big topics individually that you can easily study more at your own inquisitiveness.
The Science view cited from: Just Facts Daily website an article called, The science of abortion: When does life begin? By James D. Agresti, June 10, 2014.
The article states; Science shows that life begins at conception.
Both “conception” and “life” are scientific terms, and are clearly defined in science dictionaries and widely used in scientific literature. To cite some examples, the American Heritage Science Dictionary defines “conception” as “the formation of a zygote resulting from the union of a sperm and egg cell; fertilization.” (For reference, a zygote is the first stage of a human embryo.)
The entry for “life” in the American Heritage Dictionary of Science states that life is “the form of existence that organisms like animals and plants have and that inorganic objects or organic dead bodies lack; animate existence, characterized by growth, reproduction, metabolism, and response to stimuli.” The science of embryology has proven that genetic composition of humans is formed during fertilization, and textbook Molecular Biology explains the genetic material is “the very basis of life itself.” Another textbook Before We Are Born: Essentials of Embryology and Birth Defects directly states: “The zygote and early embryo are living human organisms.” This may be controversial from a political perspective, but the sciences of embryology and genetics leave no doubt as to when human life begins.
The Medical view cited from: Why Life Begins at Conception, NAAPC (The National Association for the Advancement of Preborn Children) website an article called, Scientists Attest To Life Beginning At Conception, By Randy Alcorn. @2010 The National Association for the Advancement of Preborn Children
The article states; The United States Judiciary Subcommittee invited experts to testify on the question of when life begins. All the quotes come from experts directly from the official government record of their testimony.
Dr. Jerome LeJune, professor of genetics at the University of Descartes in Paris, was the discoverer of the chromosome pattern of Down syndrome. Dr. LeJune testified to the Judiciary Subcommittee, “after fertilization has taken place a new human being has come into being.” He stated that this “is no longer a matter of taste or opinion,” and “not a metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental evidence.” He added, “Each individual has a very neat beginning, at conception.”
Dr. Watson A. Bowes, University of Colorado Medical School: “The beginning of a single human life is from a biological point of view a simple and straightforward matter-the beginning to conception. This straightforward biological fact should not be distorted to serve sociological, political, or economic goals.”
Professor Hymie Gordon, Mayo Clinic: “By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception.”
The Official Senate report on Senate Bill 158, the “Human Life Bill,” summarized the issue this way: Physicians, biologists, and other scientists agree that conception marks the beginning of the life of a human being-a being that is alive and is a member of the human species. There is overwhelming agreement on this point in countless medical, biological, and scientific writings.
God’s view cited from: The Message, The Bible in Contemporary Language, By Eugene H. Peterson. Copyright@2002 By Eugene H. Peterson, All Rights Reserved.
Let’s look at God’s relationship with Abraham and Sarah. There are many instances in the bible where God either visits himself or sends an angelic presence representing him to the person or couple informing them that He is going to give them a child. Abraham and Sarah were the first couple.
Genesis 17:1-2 Message (MSG)
1-2 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, God showed up and said to him, “I am The Strong God, live entirely before me, live to the hilt! I’ll make a covenant between us and I’ll give you a huge family.”
3-8 Overwhelmed, Abram fell flat on his face.
Then God said to him, “This is my covenant with you: You’ll be the father of many nations. Your name will no longer be Abram, but Abraham, meaning that “I’m making you the father of many nations.” I’ll make you a father of fathers-I’ll make nations from you, kings will issue from you. I’m establishing my covenant between me and you, a covenant that includes your descendants, a covenant that goes on and on and on, a covenant that commits me to be your God and the God of your descendants. And I’m giving you and your descendants this land where you’re now just camping, this whole country of Canaan, to own forever. And I’ll be their God.”
15-16 God continued speaking to Abraham, “And Sarai your wife: Don’t call her Sarai any longer; call her Sarah. I’ll bless her-yes! I’ll give you a son by her! Oh, how I’ll bless her! Nations will come from her; kings of nations will come from her.”
17 Abraham fell flat on his face. And then he laughed, thinking, “Can a hundred-year-old man father a son? And can Sarah, at ninety years, have a baby?”
18 Recovering, Abraham said to God, “Oh, keep Ishmael alive and well before you!”
19 But God said, “That ‘s not what I mean. Your wife, Sarah, will have a baby, a son. Name him Isaac (Laughter). I’ll establish my covenant with him and his descendants, a covenant that lasts forever.
20-21 “And Ishmael? Yes, I heard your prayer for him. I’ll also bless him; I’ll make sure he has plenty of children-a huge family. He’ll father twelve princes; I’ll make him a great nation. But I’ll establish my covenant with Isaac whom Sarah will give you about this time next year.”
22 God finished speaking with Abraham and left.
Genesis 18:9-15 Message (MSG)
9 The men said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?”
He said, “In the tent.”
10 One of them said, “I’m coming back about this time next year. When I arrive, your wife Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was listening at the tent opening, just behind the man.
11-12 Abraham and Sarah were old by this time, very old. Sarah was far past the age for having babies. Sarah laughed within herself, “An old woman like me? Get pregnant? With this old man of a husband?”
13-14 God said to Abraham. “Why did Sarah laugh saying, “Me? Have a baby? An old woman like me?” Is anything too hard for God? I’ll be back about this time next year and Sarah will have a baby.”
15 Sarah lied. She said, “I didn’t laugh,” because she was afraid.
But he said, “Yes you did; you laughed.”
After we read the MSG both Abraham and Sarah laughed out loud during their conversations with God; that He is going to give them a child in their elderly age, that this time next year Sarah will be pregnant with a son. God is telling them prophetically; I am going to do a miracle for both of you in your elderly age. A reminder; that it was God who first created humanity, meaning the “miracle of being born as a human being-as a baby, comes from Him.” So each time a baby is born; I think that we are recreating and partaking in the “miracle of God,” experiencing the joy of a new life that was first designed by Him. God goes on to say to Abraham; that I will give you nations, and kings of nations will come from Sarah meaning, He is going to give her a son, and more generations of people will come from Him through her. Then God answers Abraham’s question about Ishmael and tells him; He is going to give Ishmael children, a huge family, and twelve princes, meaning 12 sons.
After reading this passage we clearly see that God gives us children. He tells us what their gender is, and when we are going to have them. Throughout the whole conversation between them, God is saying all your children and future generations of children, nations of people, and kings are human beings that are going to come from me. All life comes from God. As far as God is concerned life doesn’t begin when it hits the earth as we read in the Science and Medical world. It begins before then.
In the King James Version bible scripture (Psalm 139:15), it uses the word “substance” to represent where life comes from. When I looked at the word “substance,” translated in the MSG, posted in the scripture below it uses “body and soul.” To me when I speak out loud the word substance, I have a mental picture of a dark mass. The MSG also says that we are “sculpted from nothing into something,” and this life making happens before we “even live one day.”
Psalm 139:13-16 Message (MSG)
13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God-you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration-what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watch me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.
Therefore all pregnancies come from God; He formed the life and when in the mothers womb during pregnancy in all of it’s early, middle, and end stages; it is a miraculous living human life from Him. The abortion clinic workers I went to see in Gainesville, Florida in 1978, lied to me, and told me that the fetus inside me at that time was a blob of tissue.
But does it really matter after exploring three views of when life begins, who is right? What really matters is where you are today in your thoughts towards yourself, and God. Probably the ones who are most affected by the news of the planned parenthood selling of human baby parts are the people who have had abortions or have been involved with abortions by allowing it to happen, and haven’t gotten right with themselves or with God.
Many of you who have had abortions; may of witnessed the horror of baby body parts being torn apart back when you had your abortions, because it was your babies body being torn apart inside of you. The physical pain, and devastation of reality was traumatizing; and the helpless side of pain in your circumstances that may have caused you to be forced to have an abortion was also shameful and traumatizing. Either way or whatever pain you might be feeling in regards to the abortion, you haven’t been able to deal with it. The world is now witnessing the horror of abortion in a slightly different way by their eyes are least being opened.
So where do you go from here with the planned parenthood news? I would encourage you to get honest with yourself and face the thoughts you have been avoiding or in denial too; let tears flow if you have too; then ask God to forgive you for offending him by having an abortion or been involved with an abortion. Ask him to forgive you and all the other people who have been in your life that you might have offended because of your actions of either having the abortion or been involved in an abortion by allowing it and not stopping it. Ask him to forgive our nation America, and our world for all the abortions that we have allowed to taken place. Ask him to forgive our generation and humanity as citizens of the United States; as citizens of Jesus Christ; as citizens from other nations who have taken residence in the United States from other nations for the shedding of innocent blood. Then ask him to help you forgive yourself. Then forgive yourself by letting it go and receiving the grace from God. Let the flow of the Holy Spirit run through your mind, heart, body and soul. Thank God for forgiving you. Thank him for his grace. Thank him for the resurrection power of Jesus Christ so that you are able to live and go forth in liberty from this point on.
